FAQs

  • A stem’s a digital audio workstation (DAW eg Logic Pro, Ableton Live etc) project channel that’s been exported as audio — all DAWs provide the option to bounce / export a project as stems. If you need help with this please get in touch (click a button above).

  • Producers use different digital sudio workstations (DAW eg Logic Pro, Ableton Live etc) and plugins — providing stems is a way to send projects cross-platform, like a PDF does for documents. This way any creative FX etc you want to keep can be preserved and so I’m able to hear your track as you did on your setup. (If you want me to take a fresh look at FX my end no problem, just send me dry stems.)

    Most pro engineers work with stems, as it acts as a separator from the production stage — the track/s you send should be finished in terms of production.
